An Australian Federal Police detective in Canberra received a jail term after giving false testimony on evidence in court.

The veteran officer spent decades putting lawbreakers in prison. He engaged in what judges called a ruinous lie and a serious lapse in judgment after fabricating details regarding court evidence.

Currently the Canberra detective must serve jail time near the prisoners he formerly helped convict. The Australian Federal Police officer received a custodial sentence after spending decades working on criminal cases and sending them to prison prior to his conviction for giving false court evidence.
